Description: The Mastervoice Environmental Control Unit (E.C.U.) is a single user voice-activated control system with speech output that allows the user to operate (totally hands-free) all appliances, lights, and telephones through 4-modes of operation: time, touch, voice, and situation. The system uses the existing household wiring to remotely control devices by using carrier current modules.
The system recognizes any language or dialect and operates (with the noise cancellation feature) in a room full of household noise from up to 20 feet away. It's both speaker dependent and independent. Once trained, the system recognizes specific words. The user trains certain categories of words in sections such as Commands, Devices, Phone, and Alarm.
The system has a built-in alarm system that can detect intruders by requesting that they identify themselves by giving the correct password. The system's built-in telephone is totally hands-free and allows the user to remotely dial pre-programmed numbers, answer, and speak on the phone. Dial by dictation is also possible.
The system has 16 "smart" timers which allows any chosen appliance to be turned on or off at specific times of the day. Other timer features included: If...then logic, interval, X-10 receive, and wake-up. To allow for more flexibility, "macros" will allow several pre-programmed devices to complete several functions. Macros can work by voice or time. The system can operate ASCII codes, infrared devices, and the telephone. The system also has voice output with pre-stored responses that can be changed with the use of an accessory called voice cartridge. Vocal delay allows easy use of voice command for people on ventilators.
